Bondi Road by Paul Freeman $119.99
Paul Freeman’s Currawong Creek book really entranced me last year. Bondi Road was published in 2007. At first glance the pictures are the standard attractive male bodies you would expect from this photographer. But on looking closer it becomes clear that book explores a wide range of masculinity. Some of the models are aggressively flirting, others are very vulnerable, while others appear to be daring you to approach and see what the repercussions may be.
This large format coffee table book featuring glorious duo toned and full colour images of hunky, mostly nude, men is a glorious work of art. While the setting is Bondi, it could be any urban hangout of the modern male.
